During summer months of 2019 exesive fieldwork was conducted in four wetland areas along the Danube river in Serbia. Data for aquatic vegetation, macrozoobenthos and water quality were collected simultaneously in 21 fluvial lakes. Sampling was performed on one to six sampling points per a pond/lake, in total on 68 sampling points. Number and location of sample points per freshwater patch were chosen to cover all freshwater habitat types (sensu EUNIS classification, NATURA 2000 and National Habitat Classification System Official Gazette of RS, no. 35/2010) present at chosen fluvial lakes and ponds.

In parallel with the fieldwork extensive labwork was also conducted during summer months of 2019 onwards. Water samples from each sampling site were taken and brought to the lab for further analyses. Also, macrophyte voucher species and macrozoobentos samples were brought to the lab and prepared for determination.

After the sample processing matrices for each biological group and environmental parameter groups were compiled in order to calculate community metrics, ecological and conservational indices and assess ecological traits.
